I encourage you guys to try addressing people in English first

I do find it quite annoying in a way, that in my favorite shard I get addresssed in a unfamiliar language, and state every time - "I have no idea what you've just said".

So I encourage everybody here (yes, everybody.) to start addressing peolpe in English. It's really not a too-hard language, you know.

yes guy but... 2 things:

1st- this is an italian shard... you know? the largest part of users are italian, if, as you said, this is your favourite shard, why don't you try to learn speaking italian?

2nd- there's a section of this forum labelled "international" where you can enjoy speaking that, i suppose, is your own language

3rd- yes, i know i said 2 things but, i see in the world everithing is written in english... so plz let us something italian that speaks also in italian

The fact is that 90% of the players are italians, and many of them are totally unable to speak english =| , so addressing an unknown pg (with a couple of exception, like a guild, which name i don't remember, of foreign players ) in italian becomes normal...

Just bind the macro of "i have no idea of what you're saying" to a key, most players will just switch to english as soon as they notice you're not italian

The problem is that on this shard players expect to find italian speaking people because the italian group is the largest by far. Make all them to default on a foreign language would be impossible.

I suggest to start conversations with "hi" or "hello", most will answer using the correct language.

A macro "english please" could be useful too

si difatti io non ho mai capito xche c'è questo bilinguismo nello shard, che è si uno shard italiano ma pure la parte inglese viene incoraggiata parecchio con il sito con parte inglese e parte italiana, forum internazionale ecc ecc... ma poi si diventa ne carne ne pesce, x carità imparare meglio l'inglese non fa affatto male (imparassero pure loro l'italiano non farebbe male neppure a loro) xo a me l'inglese non viene naturale, non ci sono portato e mai lo sarò, dover parlare inglese mentre gioco a UO mi pare una eterna interrogazione che tutto fa tranne divertirmi, e sarei rimasto su Osi se proprio devo parare inglese su UO.
Ma se proprio dobbiamo tenerci la branca internazionale? non abbiamo abbastanza memoria nel server x fare 2 mondi Dream Italia e Dream Internazionale?

Since learning italian would cost me quite some time -- a lot of time. But on the other hand, you can already speak english quite well.

Your English is not bad at all by the way.

I would just like to point out that English is not my first language either, and that also , according to UOGateway the language setting in the shard is "All."

but, simply, you're playing in a f****** italian shard, so full of italian speaking people...

A lot of player speak english - or just they try to speak it, like me - but for us is not natural to say "Hi" instead of "Ciao".

Well, i think that if you're a little open-minded you can wait 2 seconds and then ask "english please". It's not a big trouble...

I'm happy you play here, and very happy you're using this forum.

PS:

I hope every foreign player will post on this forum, instead using the "international" section. It sounds like a ghetto for me. I prefer to read this kind of post, i think is a first step towards "integration"

By the way the proble is that a lot of palyer are very young and don't speak english very well or not speck english at all.

This is an ITALIAN shrad and the top lenguage is Italian.
The suggestion to make a MACRO with "English Please" is the best suggestion we can give you.

As you can see there are many player that can help you or helped by you just with a little Macro.

So be patient ^-^

Hanno ragione quelli che dicono che questa richiesta è assurda.
Lo shard è composto da oltre il 90 % di player italiani, dovrebbe imparare lui un po' di italiano, magari anche usando un traduttore anche se traduce malissimo si apprezza lo sforzo, io quando vado su shard di Uogateway e ci sono tutti che parlano inglese mica faccio richieste di poter parlare italiano perchè io nn ho tempo per imparare l'inglese -.-

dushkin, how somebody already said, this is an italian shard if you want to talk with others you can't pretend that the italian players who don't cares about the english language to learn it only for talking with foreings, i suggest you to try a translator from english to italian and viceversa, and learn a bit of we own language, we'll appreciate your work
